How To Plan A Baby Shower

Here are a few tips on how to plan a baby shower!
1. Keep your guest list to no more than 25 close friends and family members. Ask the mom to be whom she would like to invite. It's always good to include guests from both the mom to be and dad to be sides. If you end up with too many names, just divide the list up and have two separate showers...one for friends and one for family.
2. Remember to mail your invitations at least 4 weeks before the shower and always include an rsvp that is 2 weeks before the shower.
3. Where you hold the shower should be completely up to you. If you will be hosting the shower, then it is usually the custom to have it in your home. however, if you have more people than you do room, then holding it in a restaurant, church, etc is perfectly fine.
4. As far as gifts, it's always a good idea to talk with the mom to be and see what she might need. The guests will probably be asking you what she needs. It would be good for you to know if she has already purchased anything (stroller, car seat etc) Having her make a "wish list" is always a great idea. You might also suggest that the mom to be register at a few baby stores.
5. The best time to hold a shower is usually in the afternoon but it might be more convenient to hold it in the evening for those that work during the day.
6. Games are not necessary at a shower, but sometimes they are a good way to get to know each other. If you are unsure, ask the mom to be what she would like.
7. Favors may be given to the guests but it is not required.
