Ideas for a Children’s Birthday Pirate Party

Planning a memorable birthday party for ones child can be stressful if you do not know how to do so. However, if you are resourceful and prepared, then you can be sure everybody (including kids and parents) can have a fun and exciting time. Whether a parent wants to have a party at home or an outdoor park, or recreational area or local beach or sandy area, a pirate party can be a thrilling, exciting and entertaining event for children, regardless of their ages.
To put everyone into the right mood, start with the right invitations. Personalized pirate invites featuring a treasure map on the front would be an extremely fun idea in order to get guests motivated for the impending treasure hunt that guests will enjoy at the party.
Other themes can also be used. A hook-handed pirate or a treasure chest or incomplete map are examples of different features used on the invitation. It is also important to purchase pirate party favours and some parents find it a good idea to have a pirate treasure hunt with the pirate party favour as the prize at the end of the hunt. Pirate party favour bags include an eye patch, a treasure map, a pirate story book, a hooked hand, a clip-on gold hoop earring, chocolate gold foil coins and a plastic sword, if age appropriate. As an additional activity, if party takes place at a recreational center with a pool, or parents have a pool at home with a diving board, the kids can walk the plank. However precautions must be taken at all times to ensure the safety of the children.. Swim support items may be needed, like life preservers or swimmies.
In case the weather on the day of the party is not favourable for the outdoors, have contingency plans in place. A pirate themed movie of the birthdays child choice may be shown, or the kids can make a pirate craft or do a pirate themed activity. If nothing else, supply the children with pirate colouring books and crayons in a decorated treasure box. This will help to keep the kids entertained and happy. Parents can use pirate wrapping paper on some of the presents for the birthday child and pirate balloons to accent the celebration area. Some parents may want to read a pirate themed story to the children prior to the activities to help to set the stage for the event and to get the children motivated and excited.
A Jolly Roger cake can have an impact on the children. This cake with black or dark chocolate frosting and with a white skull and cross bones design on top will steal the hearts of many a child. If the child does not like chocolate frosting, any flavour dyed with permitted food colouring to make the frosting look dark will do. If the children are older, sword toothpicks can be used in order to pick up appetizers. All in, together with a pirate T-shirt will be a nice accent to the partys overall theme.
