Make a Stuffed Animal

Posted on May 28, 2008

These days it sure seems like parents are looking everywhere for a place to have their child's birthday. The reality is, the perfect place in right in front of them..... their very own house! So, what's the big problem with having a party at home? Maybe you have to clean a bit more and have some rowdy kids over. On the other hand, what's the big problem with having a party ELSEWHERE? Let's face it, your child's party gets lost in the crowds. I have been to far too many parties, such as large Pizza and Game places, bowling alleys, jumping parties, and more, where the kids break off into small groups of two or three and never even really play with the birthday child. You have to go searching all over the place just to find them when it is time for cake and ice cream. In addition, there is no place to open presents, much less keep up with who gave what. Other children are running around among your guests. It becomes difficult to even keep up with who is at the party.

So, what is the solution? Have a themed party at home. With a bit of planning, it will be a sure hit. A home party is so much more personal. Involve your child in the party planning decisions. Let them pick the theme. Keep the guests at a good number using the kid's age as a guide. If the child is 8, invite 8 kids. No one needs 20 kids at a birthday party. Trust me, I have seen it with the little ones and it does not work! Yes, the party may flow smoothly, but the intimacy does not work. Do you want your child to remember that a lot of people were at the party and they hardly played with any of them, or do you want them to remember all eight that were there and how they all played games and ate cake and ice cream together? In the end, I bet your child would choose the later of the two.

What steps should you take? First, come up with the theme. Pick out themed invitations. Decide on activities related to the theme. Many can be found online. Come up with an agenda for the party. By the time you do a couple of games, eat cake, and open presents, why not just let the kids play. This is a social time the kids will enjoy. Kids are wonderful at using their own imaginations to entertain themselves and their friends. Try it! I am sure you will find that a home party will create lasting memories for your child!

NOTE: Many of our stuffing kits can fit a themed party. For example, for a fireman theme, try a Dalmatian stuffable animal kit and a fire man's uniform.
