Pull String Pinatas - Perfect For Younger Party Guests

Posted on August 11, 2008

Even if you will have children that are too young to play the piata game in the traditional way, there is no reason they cannot join in on the fun. The younger party goers will enjoy pull string piatas. These types of piatas can also be found in a variety of themes and are perfect for children that are unable to break open a piata or may be frightened by someone hitting a piata.

The gentler pull string piata game has become popular with parents of young children. Pull string piatas have many stings attached to the bottom of the piata. Children take turns pulling one string at a time. When the right string is pulled, the bottom of the piata opens, releasing all of the treasures. This version of the piata game is perfect for pre-schoolers or small spaces.

Be sure to fill your piata with treasures and treats appropriate for the age of children that will be attending your party.

If you have party guests in several age groups, there is nothing wrong with supplying two piatas. For the younger children, a pull-string type and a traditional piata for the old children play the game with a pinata buster. Keep smaller children away from the traditional piata activity, so the older children can have their fun without the little ones getting hurt.

You found the perfect piata for your party, but it is not a pull string type. Don\'t worry with a few simple steps you can make any piata into a pull string type. Most piatas can be converted, although some odd shaped piatas may require some creativity when deciding where the pull flap should be.

Place the piata with the bottom facing up. Using a knife make a 3 sided trap door with 3\" sides. Use the knife to make small slits through the cardboard on the flap. Make a slit for each ribbon, making sure you will have a ribbon for each guest. Thread a ribbon through each slit, do not tie or glue these ribbons. Tread one ribbon through the trap door and tie the end. This will be the \"magical ribbon\" that will open the trap door, revealing all of the treats. You may want to mark this ribbon in some way so it is not the first ribbon pulled, or for the birthday child to pull. Vary the ribbon lengths depending on where you will hang your piata.
