Self Hypnosis Memory Improvement - Concentration, Retention, Recall
Posted on July 15, 2008
Think about this for a moment. As you sit there and read this expose, bits and pieces of information are coming in through your sense of sight. But you are also hearing sounds, sensing bodily feelings like the force of your seat against your butt and back, the touch of the clothing on your body, and the air temperature and movement on your skin. You are also in receipt of information through your nose in the form of smells. And of course, you're taking in information in the form of a variety of tastes in your mouth.
And how about the emotional feelings that you are currently experiencing? That is also information that you're currently processing. We reside in an information intensive world. Thanks to the Internet, almost everything and anything that you might want to know is only a few clicks of the mouse away.
I recently read an editorial that said that even in a serene and peaceful atmosphere, we are bombarded by sixty thousand stimuli per second. And that is occurring sixty seconds out of every minute, and sixty minutes out of every hour. And it goes on twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, week in and week out for our entire life.
And happens to be a big part of the crisis. We are all being subjected to "information overload." And that makes it very difficult to memorize all of the information that we want to remember or need to recall.
Quite often, as we are reading, we find that our eyes have been traversing the words on the page, while our conscious mind has been off somewhere else on a tangent. When we get to the bottom of the page, we become aware of the fact that our eyes have seen the words, but we have no conscious recollection of what we've just read. That is because our mind has been somewhere else mulling over a problem, or working out a plan.
Today it's an every day occurrence to hear even young people state things like, "I'm having a senior moment." No matter what your age, and whether you are a student, part of the labor, or a retired person, you know what I'm talking about. In our wild world it is all too often extremely difficult to focus your concentration.
SO WHICH OF THE FOLLOWING SCENARIOS IS YOUR PROBLEM?
A. Your mind starts to meander as you study, and then all of a sudden you appreciate that you don't possess the slightest idea what you've been reading.
B. When you are in a social situation and you are introduced to new contacts, you forget their names as rapidly as you hear them.
C. You recall that you have a job to do in another room; but as soon as you start walking in the direction of the other room you totally forget what that task is.
D. You are able to stay alert and absorb new information. But when you take an examination, "Test Anxiety" overcomes you and causes a mental block, and you aren't able to remember the answers to the questions on the test that you really know.
The main cause of a person's incapacity to focus their concentration is stress. And the main cause of a mental block to recall is also stress. So it stands to reason that the more relaxed a person is, the better they will be able to focus their concentration, absorb information, and then be able to recall it at a later date.
Today, hypnosis and memory enhancement has become a hot topic. That is partially because hypnosis is an excellent instrument for triggering relaxation. In fact, the very essence of the hypnotic state is relaxation. And as the mind becomes peaceful, the ability to stay focused increases. Similarly, a serene mind increases the aptitude to retain information, and recollect it when it is needed.
Hypnotic memory improvement is a fantastic modality for eliminating test anxiety and mental blocks. There are several hypnotic techniques that can be used to program a person with a positive expectation of relaxation, self-assurance, and success while taking exams.
Anyone can take a course on how to apply hypnosis quickly and economically in the privacy of their own home by ordering hypnosis CD's. It is easy to locate further information on hypnosis to enhance memory and recall in the Hypnosis Research Library located on my website.
