History of Baby Shower Thank You Cards
Before the days of email and the internet, people communicated via phone calls and letters. Before phones, the spoken word and letters were the main form of communication. So after a baby shower was held, it was expected that the Mom-to-Be who received the gifts would send personalized baby shower thank you notes the week after the shower was held.
As the Mom-to-Be most likely didn't have a great deal of time or energy due to the pregnancy, the baby shower printed thank you cards were relatively short thanking the person for the gift and maybe giving them a quick update on how the pregnancy was going. The more familiar the two were, the more detail and time would be spent on the thank you cards.
Although, in the old days showers were formal affairs for people with a great deal of money, the middle class also participated in showers but the gifts tended to be more practical in nature and cost less than the baby parties of the high society circles.
The shower itself was important, but then the shower celebration is done and the party went off without a hitch. The food was fantastic, decorations spectacular and the personalized baby shower invitations were original. There is one last task to be completed-the thank you cards need to be written and sent to all those who gave gifts or contributed to the shower in any way.
Even though the Mom-to-Be thanked each guest at the shower, the guests are always very excited to receive a custom baby thank you card from the Mom-to-Be. Every one made a special effort to be at the shower, so this is a special way to thank the guests with a personal thank you telling how much their attendance meant to the Mom-to-Be, or Parents-to-Be, depending on the type of shower held.
The shower thank you cards should be ordered at the same time as the baby shower invitations. But, why are thank you cards needed? Aside from the obvious answer - to thank your guests for coming to the shower, but also for the gifts that were given to the baby. Sending them a personalized baby thank you card is a kind gesture back to them.
While some people might feel that a simple phone call will do the trick to thank guests for coming to the shower and for the gift; however, the shower thank you card will serve as a keepsake for both you and the guests of the shower. Along with the baby shower invitation, the thank you card can go inside of the baby book for the baby to see when they are older.
Since the printed baby shower invitations can be ordered online, so can the thank you cards. It will save time and money to purchase these items together. Plus the theme will be consistent through both the shower invitations and the baby thank you cards. When buying the invitations and thank you cards, many websites have sample thank you cards wording verses, ideas and sayings to use.
Baby thank you cards are simple and a great way to thank the guests for the gifts and for making the shower such a special occasion by attending.
