Achieving success in college is not easy. In fact, it is very hard when you are feeling rushed and overwhelmed. So, here are two really easy techniques you can start using right now for an easier and more successful college journey.
The number one reason why most students find it very hard to achieve success in college is because they resolve to do all the work themselves. That is a sure way to burn out! College is a lot about collaboration, of finding individuals who are interested in their success like you and working together as a team to succeed. Achieving success in college becomes much easier and fun when you do it with a group of friends.
There are a lot of factors to consider in forming the perfect college study group. For example: you want to make sure that all members of the study group can pull their own weight. Be fair to yourself when dividing up the work. Do not allow one member of the team to fall far behind in any of the course work. Always make sure you choose members who can contribute positively.
Along with study groups, most college students never realize the importance of taking good notes. Good notes are critical to your success in college. You essentially have two choices, you either take really good notes or you spend a lot of time at home banging your head against the brick wall trying to understand what all those words in the text book mean. I am sure you would much rather choose the first!
A lot of students just write down everything that their prof says. That is a really good way to take really bad notes. Listen attentively, do not take notes automatically. Remember that the moment you start taking notes on autopilot i.e. writing down everything your prof says or writes, you have lost your focus and are drifting away who knows where. When you are at class, you want to give all your attention to the prof and the easiest way to do this is to discipline yourself to only note down the important points. This will force you to stay awake and attentive to find out the most important points.
