To Blog or To Blog? Is it Even a Question?

Blog. Its not a very nice word. It kind of sounds like something sticky that comes out of somewhere unpleasant. However, in the age of instant data transmission instead of being something disgusting the blog has become the ideal. Blogs have grown a great deal both in their execution and the publics perception of them in the last few years.
A few years ago, anyone that had a blog was probably judged by others to be some kind of emo teenager, full of angst and trying their best to express why the darkness is crushing them. Shortly after that, the blog became some kind of online diary, attracting a wider variety of exhibitionists who wanted to write down their daily thoughts and share them with everyone else that the internet would draw to their cover less journals.
Now though, the blog has undergone another transformation. A profit machine, where every site and its cousin have information on how to make money blogging. Blog for yourself, build an audience and make money. Blog on a topic there is a demand for, attract some readers, make some money. Or even better, contribute to OTHER people's blogs, write some articles, use their readers and make some money.
The blog has become such a part of everyday parlance and of internet expectations that it is becoming almost required to at least brush up against the form in order to be any kind of viable presence on the web. It doesn't matter if you're on the internet for profit or pleasure, in order to be a part of this borderless electronic village you need to have one of those sticky things in one form or another. You know what, this writer even has a new blog. Its going to document the adventures that we have as we work on our new business. Hopefully, some people will find the posts interesting, maybe some will get some laughs, and maybe it will even drive some traffic to our site.
If we'd started an online business ten years ago, our first question probably would have been, " What will our email address be?"
Now, our first question was, "What should we write in our blog?"
