Entering blog contests is a good way to improve visibility of your blog. Here are some tips to make the maximum out of blog contests.
1. Enter as many blog contests as you can
This will give you an option to get noticed by many bloggers in short time. You can also possibly win a prize. However, if yours is a niche blog, don\'t do this, as it can dilute the focus of your blog.
2. Check other blogs entering the contest
Check out all the blogs, which are also participating in the contest. Take participation in the conversation going on through different posts of the blog. This prompts the blogger to check out your blog too.
3. Link out to interesting blog posts
Linking out to other blogs has a significant advantage. Don\'t say others to link back to you though. It can happen naturally.
4. Look out for \'free link back\' contests
Apart from your chance to win a prize, you also get a link to your blog. It increases your Technorati authority by one point.
5. Be vary of unbelievable prizes
If the prize is thousands of dollars from one blogger, chances are higher that the blogger doesn\'t have a plan to give away the prizes. Blogosphere has recently seen a few such fake contests.
6. Bust fake contests
If you win a contest and don\'t receive a prize for pretty long time, be bold enough to publish that fact in your blog. Link out to, comment or otherwise notify all the bloggers who have also entered the contest. You become a leader blogger then. It is playing with dirty situations, but it can do good for your blog.
