I am sure that if you are reading this article then that headline would probably have gotten your attention. Traffic is the lifeblood of any internet business. You need a lot of traffic to make a decent income. Ten or twenty visitors a day just is not going to cut it.
When you first start using this technique you probably will not be good at it so your results initially may not that be great. However, the more you practise the better you will get and eventually you will be able to reach these numbers for a new blog that you launch. I will discuss the new Web 2 techniques that you can use to achieve these numbers.
1) Submit your blog posts to blog carnivals
Blog carnivals are one of the very best ways that you can use to promote your website. These are high traffic blogs that publish blog posts grouped together for a niche market. So for example if you focus on fitness then you will submit your quality posts to these carnivals.
2) Submit your posts to the social bookmarking and story sites
Story sites like Digg are very popular. If you get a post that makes it to the front page you will get tens of thousands of visitors from that one post. The key to getting a post on the front page is that your article needs to be controversial that attracts a lot of attention. Make sure that you have a killer title as this will determine if it gets read or not. If you are using Wordpress you can also use a plug in that will allow people to submit a vote for your website with the social media site. This will increase your search engine rankings by increasing the link popularity of your articles. You can also use a service like Onlywire to submit your social bookmarking sites to all the major sites with one click.
3) Create videos and submit them to the video sites
Create videos regarding popular topics and submit them to video sites like Youtube. These websites receive a lot of traffic and I know of people who receive hundreds of thousands of visitors to their websites a year from video. Just make sure that you include a prominent display of the url to your website.
4) Develop free software and submit it to the popular download sites
This is a very overlooked method of traffic generation. I know of people who create software like screen savers and submit them to all the popular download sites. Using this technique they receive hundreds of thousands of visitors a year.
