Weight loss diet plans are popular but why fad diets are bad for your body? It aims at losing weight, usually in a relatively short time. That means their fat-reducing effect is temporary and results in quick regain of weight. Experts advise to avoid fad diets because they are harmful to health.
Fat diets are not a new kind of diet plan. It started more than a century ago when an obese Londoner was prescribed such diet plans on experimental basis. It is only after a century and a half that it had become popular as a kind of weight loss diet plan. Fad diets are very popluar among teens and young adults since it shows rapid result in weight loss.
The key to fad diets is high intake of fats or proteins and low carbohydrates. It is the loss of water that glycogen has stored and not fat loss. With loss of glycogen, the large amount of water stored in it is also lost and therefore fool a person that body weight drops. The fats are still there and once you stop dieting, the body regains its proportion of water lost. Weight is put back on as fast as it was lost.
Normally, carbohydrates are the main source of energy for work. But with fad diets, the low carbohydrates force the body to use stored fat as energy. This may appear beneficial but in fact it is not. In the absence of carbs, fats cannot be completely oxidized and put to work. Hence, the body feels fatigued and weak. For proper weight loss, it must includes small portion of fats, carbohydrates, protein and exercises.
Although fad diets are popular, try to avoid it because it can greatly hurt your body. Be careful with any diet or exercise program and ask your doctor to be sure it is safe. At least ask the experts to help you customize a diet plan together with exercises such as bodyweight strength training or any weight training workouts.
